Romcom Dreams

Ryan and I spent part of the afternoon pretending that our love story would be made into a romantic comedy. We decided we would want Michel Gondry to be the director. We imagined how he might film the scene where we get stoned off cookies and go canoeing on the Chicago River. Then we came up with our dream cast.

First we picked Javier Bardem to play Ryan, but Ryan thought he was too old. So we agreed on Luke Wilson instead. I still prefer Javier.

I would be played by Marion Cotillard.

Jason Schwartzman would play our friend Matt.

Susan Sarandon would play Ryan's mom. This is where it starts to get tricky, because Javier might be too old to play her son.

So Luke it is.

Kristen Wiig would play Paula.

And Adrian Brody would play the part of Bradford.

We decided that I would get dumped by Ryan Gosling. Because what girl wouldn't want to get dumped by him? It would mean that you actually got to date him.

And my mom would be played by Catherine O'Hara.

This was about as far as we got. We thought that it would be fun to have all of our friends play random parts in the movie, too. They could play everyone at Matt's going away party or some of the regulars at the coffee shop. Then we agreed that if we couldn't get Michel Gondry to direct it Woody Allen would do just fine. It would be pretty amazing to have a Woody Allen film shot in Chicago. So if anyone knows how to make this romcom happen just let me know. Thank you very much.

P.S. Who wants to write the screenplay?
